Strain relief for cable

Strain relief devices from igus have been specifically developed for use in energy chains and dynamic applications. They fix cables in energy chains and ensure that cables are not torn out. The combination of chainflex cable materials and the contacting plastic components of the strain relief elements from igus are designed for long cable service life and maximum holding force. For years, strain relief elements have been used by customers around the world, such as the CFXL clamps for long travels and harsh applications, or the CFU.V strain relief with innovative honeycomb design for installation in seconds and high holding force, or the chainfix CFN nugget strain relief blocks for simple and cost-effective strain relief solutions.

These types are available

Strain relief connector system CFB

Strain relief connector system CFB
  • For applications with high accelerations and loads e.g., in machine tools
  • Standard screw connection
  • Customised production from 1 piece.
  • For the following energy chain systems: E4 | E6 | for all plastic-metal mounting bracket (KMA) with C profile

CF.P tensile force monitoring

i.Sense CF.P: tensile force monitoring for cables
  • The CF.P sensor measures the tensile forces on the cables directly at the strain relief
  • Triggers a shutdown by means of the NC contact if forces are excessive
  • Permanently increased tensile forces can lead to cable damage and in the worst case, cable fire

Minimum gap to strain relief

Minimum gap between the strain relief and the beginning of the bend radius

Tests on our premises have shown that a strain relief component located close to the bend point of the e-chain has no adverse effect on the durability of chainflex cables. It is possible, therefore, to integrate the strain relief with the mounting bracket. We supply strain relief options, such as chainfix clamps or the space-saving tiewrap plate, for almost all e-chains.

Tested under realistic conditions, with account being taken of diverse parameters

Whether under the influence of fluids like water or oil, or at different ambient temperatures. The interaction of chainfix systems with different jacket materials of cables and hoses plays a big role in our in-house tests.
