igus® offshore energy chain for use on the seabed

e-chain® E4.1 For an offshore project, a system with special requirements had to be developed in order to guide heavy-duty cables for drilling operations down to the seafloor. On the one hand, large tensile forces and high pressure had to be withstood. On the other hand, the chain must also be flexibly adapted to carry large hoses and cables. For this purpose, a tensile test as well as a pressure test were conducted in the in-house laboratory.

Conclusion:With the newly developed offshore e-chain®, a 50-ton load and a pressure of 10 bar can be successfully implemented.
