No accumulation of dirt at critical bearing points

• Requirements: the machine is used all year round. It is also stored outdoors and must therefore be completely free from corrosion. Dirt must not accumulate at the bearing points.

The operating conditions are particularly demanding. The machines are used all year round or stored permanently outdoors. Rain, moisture and temperature fluctuations require a high level of corrosion resistance for all components.

In addition, the sweeping process generates a significant amount of dirt. Soil, dust, grit and stones are thrown up and carried directly to the bearing points.

As the verge paver was a new development in 2019, the design engineers were able to select the bearing technology right from the start. Together with the igus field sales team, the guide system was calculated and constructively coordinated. igus also provided test samples for the prototype.

The decision was deliberately made in favour of a lubrication-free solution made from high-performance plastics. Unlike lubricated metal bearings, drylin components require no lubrication whatsoever. This means that dirt particles cannot adhere to grease or oil and impair the function of the guide.

For over five years, the combination of drylin W linear guide WS-25-120 and WJ200UM-01-25 pillow blocks has been proving its worth in practical use.
